Someone wise once said that we are our own worst critic.
You might recognise the inner critic. She is the voice in your head that tells you that you look fat/ugly/frumpy (add derogatory descriptive here) when you look in the mirror. She is the voice that says ‘don’t do that…it’s a terrible idea! People will laugh at you!’ just before you are about to share something of yourself to others.
Our inner critic is like a drunken auntie at Christmas…no one want s to listen to her but it’s hard not to! And sometimes, she might just be saying it how it is, speaking the words others are too polite to say. She can be paralysing. Ignore her completely and you could lose a potential risk-spotter. Listen to her wholly and you may start to believe her.
The good news is that there is an alternative! It is possible to harness our inner critic so that she becomes a helpful friend rather than a destructive force in our life. On this workshop we explore the inner critic and tried and tested techniques to manage her so that instead of getting in the way of our goals, she can help us to achieve them.
